What is a marketing plan?
A strategic marketing plan serves to define strategy and steps that will allow a company/product to compete in the marketplace effectively. If quite often outlines a brand’s messaging and target audience, identifies industry trends and brand pillars, and describes practical marketing “Next Steps” to make the marketing vision a reality.
I was involved in a project where I was asked to provide a rough outline of a marketing plan for a company in a very niche industry. Normally a company’s marketing plan would be considered highly confidential by the preparer and the client, but in this case, the marketing plan was not used, and all information contained therein is available publicly so no company or trade secrets would be exposed.
